Doctor visits
Cover for General Practitioner consultations, medical advice and standard follow-up appointments.
Protect your health while you build your future in Australia. Cover that meets visa conditions without unnecessary extras.
When you travel to Australia to study or work, securing the right health insurance is essential. International students and most temporary visa holders are not covered by Medicare, which means holding an approved health policy is a visa requirement in its own right.
Sky Consultants helps you choose the right OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) or OVHC (Overseas Visitor Health Cover) so you stay protected, meet visa conditions and avoid unexpected medical expenses. We work with trusted provider partnerships and offer honest guidance on what each policy actually covers.
A standard OSHC policy covers these four areas across the length of your student visa.
Cover for General Practitioner consultations, medical advice and standard follow-up appointments.
Financial protection for stays and treatment in public or private hospitals as a private patient.
Full cover for medically necessary emergency transport services across Australian states.
Benefits toward a defined list of prescription medicines dispensed by pharmacists on a doctor script.
OSHC is designed for student visa holders and must be maintained for the full length of your visa. OVHC is designed for temporary work, family, visitor and skilled visa holders.
We compare providers on price, hospital network, waiting periods and claims process, then handle enrolment and renewal so your policy never lapses mid-visa.
OSHC (Overseas Student Health Cover) is mandatory for subclass 500 student visa holders. OVHC (Overseas Visitor Health Cover) is designed for holders of temporary work, family and visitor visas that are not eligible for Medicare or a reciprocal health arrangement.
OSHC must cover the entire duration of your student visa, including school breaks. OVHC policies are typically taken for the length of the underlying visa. Lapses can breach visa conditions, so we schedule renewals well before expiry.
Doctor visits, in-hospital treatment as a private patient in a public or private hospital, emergency ambulance transport and prescription medicines up to defined benefit limits. Optional extras cover dental, optical and physiotherapy at higher premiums.
Single applicants, couples and family policies that include a partner and dependent children. Family cover is required if dependants are named on the visa, and we help match provider tiers to Home Affairs' minimum policy requirements.
Single OSHC starts from around AUD 550 per year, with couple and family cover starting from around AUD 2,400 per year depending on provider and tier. Premiums are set by the five approved Australian insurers and updated annually.
Yes. We compare providers on price, hospital network, waiting periods and claims process, handle enrolment before your visa lodgement, issue the Certificate of Insurance for your application and manage renewals so your cover never lapses mid-visa.
