Sponsorship Is the Fastest Employer-Led Route.

Australia's employer sponsored program lets approved businesses recruit skilled workers from overseas or transition existing staff to permanent residence. Each visa has its own occupation list, salary threshold and employer obligations.

Selecting the correct subclass at the start protects both parties. It sets the right timeline for nomination, keeps sponsorship costs proportionate to the role and preserves the applicant's PR pathway.

Sponsor obligations

What Sponsors Need to Have in Place.

Employers must first be approved as a Standard Business Sponsor before nominating a candidate. Approval covers a set period and requires evidence of a lawfully operating business and a commitment to sponsor obligations.

  • Nominate positions that match an occupation on the relevant list at the required salary.
  • Pay the Skilling Australians Fund levy at the nomination stage.
  • Keep records, cooperate with monitoring and notify Home Affairs of certain events.
  • Ensure equivalent terms of employment as Australian workers doing the same job.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

Who can be sponsored on an employer sponsored visa?

Skilled workers whose occupation appears on the relevant occupation list for the chosen subclass, who meet the required experience threshold, competent English and health and character rules. The nominating employer must first hold or obtain Standard Business Sponsorship or accreditation.

How long does an employer sponsored application take?

Sponsor, nomination and visa stages are assessed separately. Accredited-sponsor 482 applications resolve within weeks, standard 482 within one to four months, and 186 within six to twelve months. Regional 494 applications sit in a similar band to the 482.

What are the main costs for employers?

Employers pay the Standard Business Sponsorship application fee, a per-nomination charge and the Skilling Australians Fund levy, which is calculated on business turnover and visa duration. Applicant visa fees are separate and can be paid by employer or worker.

Can family members be included?

Yes. A spouse or partner and dependent children can be added to any of the three subclasses at lodgement, or later as subsequent entrants. Family members receive matching study rights and full work rights during the primary visa's validity.

Which employer sponsored visa leads fastest to permanent residence?

The subclass 186 is permanent from grant. Medium-term stream 482 holders qualify for the 186 Temporary Residence Transition after two years with the sponsor. Regional 494 holders transition through the 191 after three years of eligible regional work.

Do you provide MARA-registered assistance for both sides?

Yes. We manage sponsor accreditation, nomination and applicant visa in a single portfolio and monitor ongoing sponsor obligations, including record-keeping and Home Affairs notification requirements for the life of the visa.
