Structured Training, in an Australian Workplace.

The Training Visa (Subclass 407) allows overseas applicants to enter Australia for occupational training that enhances an existing skill, participate in workplace-based professional development, or take part in classroom instruction under a registered sponsor.

Three streams are available. The occupational stream supports skill enhancement in the applicant's field. The professional development stream is designed for managerial or professional overseas staff attending short training with an Australian business. The classroom-based stream covers structured training programmes with education providers.

Sponsorship, nomination and applicant assessment run in parallel. Each element must satisfy the sponsor's undertakings, the training plan requirements and standard health and character rules.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

Who is eligible for a subclass 407 Training visa?

Applicants must be nominated by an approved temporary activities sponsor, be undertaking one of the three eligible training streams and, for the occupational stream, hold twelve months of full-time experience in the nominated field. Health, character and health-cover requirements apply.

How long does the 407 take to process?

The Department of Home Affairs typically resolves nomination and visa stages within two to five months when the training plan and sponsor documentation are complete. Incomplete plans or unclear training outcomes are the main cause of extended processing.

How much does the Training visa cost?

The base visa charge is AUD 405 for the primary applicant, with reduced fees for a spouse and children. Sponsorship application fees for organisations and nomination charges are separate. Full cost is quoted in writing before engagement.

Can I include family members?

Yes. A spouse and dependent children can be included at lodgement or added as subsequent entrants. Family members receive study and limited work rights aligned with the primary applicant's grant period.

How long can the visa be granted for?

The 407 can be granted for up to two years, aligned with the length of the approved training programme. Extension requires a fresh nomination and a revised training plan.

Do you provide MARA-registered assistance for sponsors and applicants?

Yes. We prepare the sponsor approval, nomination and applicant file together so the training plan, workplace obligations and evidence line up in a single consistent submission.
