How long does the 190 take to process?
State nomination usually takes one to three months once you meet the state's requirements. Visa processing after invitation typically resolves within six to twelve months, subject to Home Affairs caseload and evidence completeness.
How much does the 190 cost?
The visa base charge is AUD 4,765 for the primary applicant, with secondary applicant fees for family members. Most states also charge a nomination processing fee ranging from around AUD 200 to AUD 400. Skills assessment and English test fees are separate.
Can I include my family?
Yes. A spouse and dependent children can be added at lodgement or as subsequent entrants. All included applicants receive permanent residence with the same rights on grant, and are expected to honour the same state commitment.
What does the two-year state commitment mean in practice?
You agree to live, study or work in the nominating state or territory for two years after grant. Movement is not legally enforced but is monitored, and moving early can affect future nomination requests for family members or renewals.
